Jani Bowshall

Hi there – My name is Jani Bowshall

Working with the Tarot professionally for over 10 years, I’m also a qualified hypnotherapist. I have a background in counselling and a Usui Reiki practitioner. I am also an artist and musician.

I love the symbolism of the cards. I'm inspired by them more and more as the years go on. The Tarot is more like a book of life than a pack of cards. Every single human experience is held within its pages. Delving into it is to be constantly amazed, there is always more to discover and explore.

Family tradition

I was brought up in a family tradition of physic women. Cartomancy (reading playing cards) and mediumship were a normal part of our lives. I had no interest in that side of things though when I was younger, keen to follow my own path and find my own answers. I only felt drawn to return to it later, when my own life turned upside down. It felt like a home coming. It was certainly the start of a new journey!

Private clients

I’ve read tarot at parties and weddings, for corporate clients in Nestle headquarters UK, Pepsi UK and Monsoon UK as well as for literally hundreds of private clients across the UK and beyond as far away as the USA.

Book of life

I believe the Tarot is one of the most exciting, insightful ‘books’ there is and often also the most misunderstood! As I said, I think of the Tarot as a book of life even though it’s really a pack of 78 cards. Most people are familiar with the most famous characters. ‘The Lovers’, ‘The Hanged Man’, The Magician’ and of course ‘Death’. Did you know that ‘Death’ is actually about transformation? ‘The Lovers’ is all about choice and ‘The Hanged Man’ is about patience, self sacrifice. And perhaps gaining a new perspective? Together they form part of a long tradition of legend and folk lore. Each card is full of ancient symbolism from across the globe .

I still hear people say they are afraid of the Tarot which I think is a shame. In my experience the Tarot is always a powerful but gentle source of information. Not biased and certainly not scary or worrying in any way. With the best will in the world, sometimes life throws us challenges. Things are not always as we would like them to be.
With that in mind, my approach to tarot reading now is a little less ‘gypsy’ and a bit more ‘real world’. It’s more about using the Tarot for guidance, clarity, actual practical help and insight. Not searching for mysterious tall dark strangers (however handsome they may be)!
